The idea took shape in 2002 when the Karnataka State Tourism Department signed an MOU with the Ministry of Railways. After meticulous planning and over 900 design layouts, the train was crafted at the Integral Coach Factory by a team of 200 skilled carpenters. Its purple and gold exterior pays homage to Karnataka’s royal legacy and the state’s Golden Jubilee.

The train made its maiden journey in February 2008, flagged off by the then President of India, Pratibha Patil. Initially running between Bengaluru and Goa, it later expanded to celebrated week-long itineraries covering the Pride of South and Splendour of the South. In 2019, the signature Pride of Karnataka itinerary was introduced, offering a deeper exploration of Karnataka’s iconic sites.

Fare & Pricing Policies
Your fare covers the complete luxury experience: travel in elegant cabins, all meals and catering, accommodation, guided sightseeing tours, entrance fees to monuments, parks and palaces (excluding video camera fees), cultural performances, and specified excursions.
The fare does not cover tips to staff, laundry services, telephone calls, video camera fees at monuments, alcoholic beverages, or any items of a purely personal nature.
Additional supplement charges apply for Christmas, New Year, and signature journeys (USD 400 per head).
Yes, Goods and Services Tax (GST) is applicable as per current government regulations and will be charged extra.
Children aged 5 to 12 years travel at 50% of the adult fare. Children below 5 years travel complimentary (sharing the same cabin with parents). All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Booking & Payment Policy
During initial confirmation, 20% of the total published price should be paid. The balance 80% must be paid at least 60 days before the departure date.
The remaining 80% of the ticket value must be paid at least 60 days prior to the departure date. If a booking is made 59 days or less prior to departure, full 100% payment is required.
We accept all major debit and credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and more) as well as secure bank transfers. All payments should be made in the name of White Pigeon Holidays . All relevant bank charges and the prevailing exchange rate on the date of transaction must be borne by the guest.
Names and details of all passengers (adult and child) must be provided at the time of booking. Name change is allowed up to 45 days before departure (subject to availability and full payment). Only one date change may be permitted up to 45 days before departure. Either name change or date change will be allowed, not both.
Cancellation & Refund Policy

Cancellations must be notified in writing. Refunds are processed according to the following policy:

In case of no-show or early termination of the tour by the guest, the entire amount is forfeited with no refund or adjustment possible.
